During the holiday season, the most frequent response to “How are you?” seems to be “I’m so busy.” I just read an article that stated 31% of individuals questioned consider the holidays to be “frantic.” With that in mind, if you’re into making lists like I am, I encourage you to put self-care at the top of your list.
That’s what I did this past Sunday after I made a joyful noise in choir, I went for a snowshoe-picnic. For me, this is a great opportunity for introspection & reflection. It’s one of my favorite ways to recharge my batteries via the positive energy I feel when I’m surrounded by nature; plus, it’s a D-elightful way to get a healthy dose of Vitamin D & exercise.
Being by the river also reminds me of my role in creating positive flow in my life. This includes times when I need to just let go & go with the flow. If, like on Sunday, my picnic includes a clementine, I like to throw my peels into the river as a symbolic reminder for me to strive for a paradigm shift in my life from “busy” to “flow.” I can identify with these peels: sometimes I seem to joyfully bob downstream; however, other times I get caught up spinning in whirlpools or resting on the sidelines in a stagnant pool. They all reflect a dimension of living fully which includes times of action along with the significant role of those times of inaction.
No matter what transpires in our lives, I hope we can all g(r)o(w) with the flow.
