Give thanks with a grateful heart…

Yesterday when I was preparing to leave a client’s home, I came across this notepad as I was scrounging for a piece of paper to leave a message:

I continue to reflect on this statement as I celebrate all my blessings this Thanksgiving. If you’re reading this then the odds are in your favor of being one of my blessings; then again you probably have enlightened me as well. Thus I’d like to change the “or” to “and”.

Thanks for sharing your life with me!!!!…In turn, I hope you enjoy your day creating memorable moments…

As they say, never assume…

I’m currently pet-sitting for some friends. Their street was being re-paved this week when I headed back over to my place on my bike. I stopped to ask one of the workers when they would be done & she told me 6:00pm. Thus, I took the long way home via the post office. When I got home, I was so sweaty that I opted to take a quick shower & slipped into my little black nightgown- a bit shearer & lower cut than I normally would go out in; however, I was assuming that I would only be making the quick drive back to Pepe’s.

Why worry?

Yesterday morning I called my insurance company for an update regarding the settlement check that I was expecting to be deposited in my account based on information that my representative had shared. I was very di$appointed to discover that there would be no settlement check after all.

Thus, my mind was whirling in terms of this financial impact as I headed to my car to go to work. I found myself crunching numbers regarding my budget & yes, worrying…

Then, I saw these unexpected messengers on the sidewalk in front of me …

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?  26 Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap orgather into barns—and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them.Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?…

Connections….

“What three things would you attribute to their longevity?”, quizzed a lawyer friend as I was sharing about my latest venture to Sardinia, Italy’s Blue Zones.

In response, I listed: how they nourish their bodies- beverages included; their activity level; and their connections- family & friends including their church & community…

This third dimension reminded me of when I recently discovered my name in the church bulletin’s Weekly Prayer Focus: Family & Friends section- “Relief and gratitude that Mary Rehn was not injured last week when a tire struck her car while driving on Highway 224.”

Trust me…

This past week I had the pleasure of hanging out with cute little Sammy & her big “brother’ Scooby. I find myself assuring Sammy when I pick her up or guide her on her leash saying, “trust me.”

Recently, our pastor’s sermon was “Jesus continues to speak”. It dawned on me that Jesus has been trying to communicate the same message to me as I continue striving to live fully while facing some unanticipated challenges. I may be deaf in the one ear; however, I have tuned in to hear that comforting reminder, “trust me”.

I CANfess…

First let me back up & share that I realize my WOE is me m”own”ments are times when I need to go WHOA!!! in order to recognize a Wonderful Opportunity for Enlightenment…

Yes, I am guilty of not practicing “meaningful mouthful”- of not being present to enjoy what I’m eating. In those scenarios we often eat more than we need; however, in my case it’s going to mean a costly trip to the dentist.
