First let me back up & share that I realize my WOE is me m”own”ments are times when I need to go WHOA!!! in order to recognize a Wonderful Opportunity for Enlightenment…
Yes, I am guilty of not practicing “meaningful mouthful”- of not being present to enjoy what I’m eating. In those scenarios we often eat more than we need; however, in my case it’s going to mean a costly trip to the dentist.
I was recently in Italy learning more about the Mediterranean lifestyle. I had my computer at the breakfast table because I hadn’t been able to get wifi in my room & before I left for the day I wanted to get a note off to my family to let them know I was thriving. As I was taking a bite of crusty bread that I had slathered with fresh ricotta & homemade jam, I simultaneously checked my computer to see if my pictures had uploaded from my phone.
Oops!!! I detected something more than crunchy- I had managed to break off the 2 pin teeth of a bridge. Thus, I now was/am missing the 3 front teeth on my left side.
Even though I was upset as I got behind the wheel of my clutch car, I reminded myself to count my blessings that I didn’t break an arm or leg. I needed to be grateful that I was still able to explore the backroads & stay in the agriturismos(farm B&B’s) as planned.
I also had to admit to myself that in a somewhat judgmental way, I’d observed many older folks were missing teeth. Now, I was one of them.
C’est la vie(such is life)…
