I’m enjoying spring here in Park City never knowing what I’m going to wake up to weather wise. Thus, I dress in layers so I’m prepared for however my day evolves.
Earlier this week, it was snowing when I was walking a friends dog. We encountered these horses nuzzling each other. To me it was their version of “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.” In a way, it was a modified version of the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
Imagine, as John Lennon encourages us to do in his song, “Imagine”, how different our world could be if we all applied this “Golden Rule” in all dimensions of our lives. In his song, Lennon was challenging us to imagine a place where the things that divide us, like religion and possessions, don’t exist. In turn that reminds me of the words from another song, “Let there be peace on earth & let it begin with me.”
…may it be so…
“Imagine” by John Lennon
Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
Imagine all the people
Livin’ for today
Ah, Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Livin’ life in peace
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one
“Let There Be Peace On Earth” by Jill Jackson & Sy Miller
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me
Let There Be Peace on Earth
The peace that was meant to be
With God as our Father
Brothers all are we
Let me walk with my brother
In perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now.
With ev’ry step I take
Let this be my solemn vow
To take each moment and live
Each moment in peace eternally
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me
