Our lives often seem like we go from one commitment to another. I think “moving right along” has been my mantra ever since I was a little girl trying to keep up with my big sisters.
I got a new coin purse as a practical souvenir this fall when I was in Italy. While transferring my donor card from the old to the new, I couldn’t help but smile upon reflecting back to one afternoon when I was at my son’s football practice.
As practice was wrapping up & I was preparing to move on to my next commitment, I used the phrase “moving right along”. In parting, I jokingly mentioned to the lady I had been chatting with how I had thought about using that saying on my tombstone until I decided I’d rather be cremated. In turn, she emphatically informed me that she planned to be cremated because nobody could do her hair or make-up the way she’d want…ooooooooooooK…
Fortunately, I’ve come to realize that it’s more important how I live than how I look. That concept has also inspired me to keep on giving “through” the end. During this season of giving, I challenge you to make a similar commitment. If you have already, please encourage others to do the same.
