I have 2 sheep sitting on my alarm clock- they are there to remind me that if I count my blessings, I won’t need to count sheep to get to sleep. Plus, they remind me of the “Good Shepherd” & how he’s watching out for me- he’ll be up all night so I don’t have to be.
One of the greatest blessings that evolved from my acoustic neuroma tumor is how I shifted my focus to what I CAN do. Thus, I like to CANnvert words inserting an “A” for an “o” to nurture a more positive perspective. CANtentment is a word that comes to mind as we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving; especially, as we recognize that CANtentment is knowing how to enjoy what we have. Being CANtent with the CANtents of your life reflects gratitude.
I believe that gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. Gratitude is more than just saying thank you one day of the year. It’s a sense of wonder, appreciation & yes, thankfulness for life. Gratitude empowers us to not take people or things for granted and to enjoy with humble CANfidence the gifts & pleasures that are offered to us each day.
With that in mind, I want you to imagine: what if gratitude had been the default emotion back in the garden- would the world be different today? Suppose an undazzled Adam & Eve scoffed at the snake’s suggestion instead of following it. “You must be joking. We are blessed with a wonderful home. Let us show you around & share with you some of the abundance from our strawberry patches, orange groves, blueberry bushes.” If you choose an attitude of gratitude, will your world be different?
Attitudes are CANtagious- I hope mine is worth catching…
Carpe diem…
