I just returned from an 8 day road trip to visit family in Idaho & Washington. According to Google maps, I logged 1, 915 miles; plus, of course a few more miles stopping at gas stations, rest areas, scenic overlooks- somewhat limited due to haze from wildfires, family members homes & a detour or 2.
I have come to realize that detours can often be blessings in disguise if I stay open to life’s possibilities. On this roadtrip, one of these detours was when Google maps had me on a Forest Service road enroute to Lake Chelan. I’ll admit due to the fires on Forest Service Land, I wasn’t sure that this was a good idea. Just then, I came around a curve to see a barricade across the road ahead of me. As I retreated to the main highway, I “met” this guy hanging out in the woods. I think he was the most interesting character that I met on my trip. (I believe he’s related to Big Foot. ) Anyway, I would have missed out on “meeting” him if I hadn’t had to alter my plans.
Isn’t that true in life as well- at least for me: sometimes I have what seem to be grandiose plans/ideas & then hit a road block. Often stumbling blocks turn into stepping stones. So often hidesight leads us to process these expeiences as “wonderful opportunities for enlightenment.” That’s why I’ve chosen to name my blogs “W.O.E. is Me.” I hope all of us continue to grow via these type of experiences as well as share the wisdom we may have gained….
Happy trails…
